“When I am in my painting, I’m not aware of what I’m doing. It is only after a sort of ‘getting acquainted’ period that I see what I have been about. I have no fears about making changes, destroying the image, because the painting has a life of its own.” ~ Jackson Pollock
With palette knife in hand, tonight will be my 'getting acquainted' night. I'm just going to play for a while by trying out a few sketch ideas, then diving into a new piece just for fun. Perhaps even a collage or mixed media piece.
My recent roadblock has been the fear of screwing something up royally beyond repair. This is why my SF painting is not done...and why I haven't started anything new either. I had stepped away from the SF painting several months ago, and now I'm scared to start back in on it.
My hope is that a few of these activity nights will push me out of this rut. Perhaps some evening Yoga might help too.
Side note: Academy of Art University has a MFA in Computer Arts New Media. I am seriously interested in it, but I need to get some pieces done for my portfolio before I can apply. Thinking that I need to finally purchase some multi-media software. Like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, DreamWeaver, etc. Had most of them for my PC, prior to the breakup (many moons ago). Need a Mac version though - know where I can get software at a basement bargain price? :)
